I think most of us have been here, being a prisoner of our own thoughts. I surely know I have. Whether after a bad break up, bad transaction or whatever… Many of us have allowed the “Thing” that happened to trap us in our own mind, sometimes even when self-doubt sets in and we start to believe that maybe we are not good enough, “I will never find love” or “I am not a good agent”.
I have helped hundreds of people personally and professionally navigate difficult decisions in both life and business and I can do that because I lived much of it too. One thing I know for sure is that it is easy to lose yourself and become prisoner in your mind, stuck inside with the walls closing in. Tears streaming on the pillow, the panic when a deal falls apart because that is how you were paying the mortgage. Man, do I get it. You need to understand one thing, while you are a prisoner in your mind, you are also the warden. You can choose to free yourself from the self-induced incarceration you created.
First thing is you need is a small group of core people you can rely on. I have 5 people who were my closest friends. Some of them I see daily, some I see weekly, but they are my very best of friends. I cut everyone else off who is not supportive. Yes I was cordial all the time, but I only allowed myself to be with the supportive happy people on my free time.
I found healthy activities that kept me active like mountain biking, hiking and walking on the beach. Always with head phones on cranking out what ever gets me going. Every day that goes by I find a little more strength and find myself a little more. In the end I am able to free myself from my own limiting beliefs and bury the negativity which is holding me back.
The only way I can explain it is this, for a hot air balloon to get off the ground, you need to cut the sand bags, release the tether and then you will soar high above the world. The sandbags and tether are the negatives that plague you. Free yourself from them and you will free your mind.
ANYTHING is possible with a free mind.
You will grow your business, you will hit your goals and you will become a humbled person.
Always do something positive and productive. Even on days you do not feel like doing anything, just post one Positive post, send one upbeat email or text or make one positive call. Then put it behind you, wake up and then win the day.
Starting right now, write down what regrets you have, what negatives plague you. Write them down. Read them out load and then say I release your negative hold on me and burn the paper, outside or in a fireplace of course. Then be free and be the best “You” possible.
